For more than half a century, Merwin Rose has quietly helped Elk Grove develop. One of the original members of the Old Town Merchants Association, Rose moved to the Sacramento area in 1949.
Ten years later, while teaching science classes part time, Rose opened Rose’s Engineering Geology and Survey Inc. Rose said despite the changes Elk Grove has undergone, he will always love the city. “I just liked it. All our work was here. I started in ’59 when I was still teaching, but I was working the business part time. We liked the atmosphere here.
